What is geocaching?

Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasures. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the geocache.

You decide the lever of difficulty yourself. You can pick only the easy ones, or go for the more difficult ones. We do the easy ones, both because we are carrying around a baby (we usually carry our now 10 month old in a baby carrier if we cant )

So much fun!

It's such a fun activity to do as a family. But this is of course also done as individuals or as a group of friends. My husband and I try to find one every Saturday. For us this is a great way to get out into nature. We get to see places in our neighborhood we sometimes didn't even know existed.

Where are the geocaches?

You find them in  a great number of countries all over the world. Most geocaches are located at places you would want to see anyways: spots with great views, beautiful nature, historical monuments and so on. There are different types of geocaches: many is a box that contains a log book and a pen for you to log your visit. Often there are also little things you can trade to get. If you take one of them  - always leave something else for the next ones to come! To join or to read more see www.geocaching.com
